Hello and welcome to 94:18 Christian Studios Spark of Hope!
Leviticus laws. That itself should explain the point of this message today. There is so much controversy, misunderstandings, and rumors around these Jewish laws. Atheists especially love bringing these laws up to make them believe they have the upper hand in conversations, claiming that since the Leviticus laws are outdated, then the entire Bible must be too. Let's delve into some context and history.
The Jews in the Old Testament had to abide by the laws stated in Leviticus because they were God's chosen people. The only way they could reach Him was through burnt offerings and obeying those Levitical laws so they could be "clean" in order to proceed with the burnt offerings in the temples.
Leviticus 19:26-28
“‘Do not eat any meat with the blood still in it.
“‘Do not practice divination or seek omens.
“‘Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard.
“‘Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the Lord.
Jews had to do animal offerings so they could put their sins onto the animal, kill it, and their prayers would go up with the smoke of the animal being sacrificed.
We have Jesus our perfect Lamb so we don't need animal sacrifices. And since we don't need to go into temples to sacrifice animals, there is no need for us to follow the Levitical laws. Jesus told us He was our ultimate offering when He died on the cross. All our sins were placed onto Him so that we may be able to speak with God directly whenever and wherever we needed, without burnt offerings.
The Old Testament isn't outdated, it's that Jesus already fulfilled the offerings we need to sacrifice so we can have direct contact with God.
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
He said, “Go and tell this people: “ ‘Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving.’
