Spark of Hope Blog #31-- BGP

Hello and welcome to the 94:18 Spark of Hope Blog!

Today we are discussing Big Godly People; who they are and how they affect you. Earlier, I googled “BGP” and “Big Godly Person” and was astounded to discover that the search didn't match up with what I expected. Instead of this concept of a Big Godly Person (BGP for short) I discovered only articles on how Godly Christians should behave. While this is a fair point, this is not what a BGP is. So let's wipe a clean slate of all we know about BGP's and head to the beginning.

Big Godly People. Obviously, as the name suggests, Godly people. But "Big." Why Big? This is not pertaining to size, but to the impact they hold in our lives. BGP's should be involed our lives and our important decisions. They are Christians we can trust to give us good, Christ-like judgment and criticism; the ones who won't sugarcoat the truth when you're falling into sin and temptation.

BGP's can hold more power in your life than you realize. As the famous quote states, "show me your friends [and who you surround yourself with] and I'll show you your future." When you allow friends (or adults) who have walked with God for many years and have experience through hard trials of life, they hold wisdom and knowledge that benefits that can save your spiritual life.

An example of a Big Godly Person relationship in action is Jonathan and King David's lifelong friendship, even beyond Jonathan's death. David and Jonathan played together as children but, growing up, learned to trust each other to even save each others' lives at certain points. They loved God together and lifted each other up; pushing each other closer to God. When Jonathan passed away, David took Jonathan's son and sat him at the royal table, allowing him to feast with himself.

BGP's vital to the your spiritual life. Who are your BGPs? If you don't have them, how do you think you should connect to someone capable of filling this role in your life?

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

He said, “Go and tell this people: “ ‘Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving.’

Isaiah 6:8-9 ‭‭‭NIV‬‬
