From now on occasionally I will switch between blogs and short devotions/notes on certain passages.
Today's note is on Ephesians 2:8. After the devotion, take time to pray and meditate on the verse and ask God what personal takeaway you can receive from this passage.
Ephesians 2:8 NIV
8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—
No matter what we ever do, it will never be enough if Jesus didn't die for us. No matter the hours we serve others or the knowledge and wisdom we have of God, if Jesus didn't come down from Heaven and take on all of our sins, troubles, sorrow and die carrying them, then resurrect, we would never be able to go to Heaven. That's because as much as we try, we can't get to Heaven on our own. We could never work to earn God' approval because He loves us not for our works, but because of our hearts. Even if we died trying to serve God with all we have, if Jesus didn't die, we could never reach God. Our works could never amount to God's holiness and standards. So why would we serve? We serve BECAUSE Jesus, not to reach Jesus.
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
He said, “Go and tell this people: “ ‘Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving.’
